Manos Lambrakis Playwright

Curriculum Vitae:

Manos Lambrakis is a Greek playwright. He was born in the southernedge of the Aegean Sea, Crete. After graduating with an Archaeologyand Art History degree from Athens University, he completed hispostgraduate studies in Archaeology (Aegean University), Cultural Policy and Theatre Studies at Warwick University.

He has worked as an artistic assistant with the legendary LefterisVoyatzis (2000-2013) and Archaeology specialist with Dimitris Papaioannou during the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games. His plays deal with themes of war, fascism, sexual desire, pain, physical and psychological torture, love and death. They are characterized by a poetic intensity, pared down language and exploration of theatrical form. His earlier work are also marked by the use of extreme and violent stage action (Puerto Grande).

He has translated Georg Büchner’s Woyzeck, Samuel Beckett’s Happy days and Sarah Kane’s Crave
