Almost all the big photographers of the 20th century were “street photographers”. Street photography was the purest and the biggest expression for the medium, for a long-long time before the “invasion” of newer forms of expression, like “conceptual”, “constructed” photography etc.
We love this “old school” photography, we will talk about this. Starting from Walker Evans and other American photographers of the 30’s, having then a big stop and discussion on Cartier-Bresson, the biggest, the emblematic figure. Continuing with Robert Frank and his epigones. Some new tendencies after 2000 will be covered also.
In a second part, we discuss more “how to do” things. Practical, technical stuff and, more importantly, the mind attitude and preparation needed for street photography. I will also share my personal experience.
